An Advice Column Just For High School Girls

A guy that I’ve liked since 7th grade called me ugly to one of his friends and he said that he would never like someone like me. I’m starting to believe him. What do I do? — Rejected Rebecca

Dear Rejected Rebecca,

Don’t let that one guy define how you view yourself. You are beautiful inside and out. Just because he thinks you’re ugly, doesn’t mean that everyone thinks that you’re ugly. There’s a guy out there that loves you for who you are. One guy’s opinion doesn’t mean that the whole world feels the say way.

Now onto the subject of what you should do. I had a situation sort of like this about a week ago. A guy that I like said that my ugly self actually thought that I liked him. It really hurt and I thought for a few days that I really was ugly. All it took for me to stop thinking that way was a brilliant pep talk from one of my best friends. She told me that no matter what he said, I was beautiful and I deserved the whole world and more. No matter what, just remember that the only thing that matters is how you view yourself, not how others view you. The best thing that I think you should do in this situation is to talk to some of your closest friends or to make a list of all of your best qualities or write an angry letter that you’ll never send. These are just suggestions, find something that works for you. Like putting encouraging messages on your mirror for you to read every morning and night.

Love you ladies! Keep a lookout for another post. I’ll post them whenever I can.
